The police have arrested a member of staff of the University of Benin, a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry.

The suspect was arrested for forging the signature and headed paper of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) Chairman, UNIBEN chapter, Dr. Anthony Monye-Emima.

The suspect reportedly used the letter head to write a petition to the Minister of Education, stating that Prof Oshodin was no longer fit to man the affairs of the university due to ill health, therefore calling for an acting Vice chancellor to be appointed.

The spokesperson for the police confirmed the arrest, saying that they have been on his trail for over a month and subsequently got him on Saturday.
