Under the sponsorship of the Africa International Film Festival, AFRIFF, ten Nigerian students would be sponsored on an all-expense paid trip to the United States of America.

The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is coming up in November, and as part of the festival programme, talent-development workshops will be held throughout the festival week.

Founder/CEO of the festival, Ms Chioma Ude, revealed that this year’s workshops will be focusing on acting, scriptwriting, directing and cinematography, and the students who show the most potential will be selected for the scholarship.

She said “AFRIFF has, since its first edition in 2010, provided free training and talent-development opportunities for young people and aspiring filmmakers. We have provided ground-breaking education in Sound for Film, Cinematography and Screen Writing for over 500 students. This we have done in partnership with Sound & Motion Technical College and City Varsity, Cape Town,. We have also worked directly with students of the National Film Institute, Jos; the Creative Arts Department of University of Port-Harcourt; PEFTI Film Institute, Lagos, as well as other aspiring young filmmakers.”

The selected students will be required to shoot a short film which will be entered in the AFRIFF short film category in 2015. This year’s edition of AFRIFF will taking place from November 9 to November 16 at the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort, Calabar, Nigeria.
